Wahoo Challenge 2016 @ Conch House Marina

winner

Congratulations Team Blue Water Predator on your big win!

The forecast didn’t look pretty that weekend but bad weather didn’t stop these hardcore fisherman & fisherwoman. Over two gloomy days about 50 entrants ran out of the Conch House Marina to try their luck at catching the Atlantic Ocean’s Zebra like fish, Wahoo.
Friday at 6:00 p.m. boats began to return, one by one, with little to show. Of approximately 20 boats choosing to fish Friday, only half pulled in a Wahoo, and of those who managed to reel in the target, few were large enough consider possible winners. However on Friday team Blue Water Predator put all others to shame catching two big ones at 53.70lbs & 63.68lbs, (The 2nd fish was the biggest fish overall).

Wahoo Challenge Runner Up
Great Job team Seafood Kitchen (Waylen Bay Marine) on 2nd place! Just a few lbs shy!

Saturday brought a bit more sunshine which must have been a result of the fish gods smiling down on contestants. Almost all the contestants on day two pulled in a Wahoo. Many fish caught were large enough to put the Blue Water Predator on edge as they watched the scale hoping to stay on top.

Team Seafood Kitchen, (Our proudly sponsored boat!), gave the biggest scare to Blue Water as they reeled in a 63.18 lb. Wahoo and a second at 43.98 lbs. This got them close but not quite heavy enough to knock off the standing leader and ultimate tourney winner.

Wahoo Chalenge Crowd
An excited crowd gathers on Saturday just before weigh-in to get first look at new fish brought in!

We hope everyone has a great time as the Waylen Bay Marine staff and team Seafood Kitchen did. Congrats to all the winners on a great job and on winning all that money! (Thousands on Thousands!!??$$) Good Luck the rest of the year and we hope to see everyone again next year at the 2017 Wahoo challenge!

Special Thanks to Mark our tournament organizer and Conch House Dock Master for putting on a great one!
